It’s rather difficult to capture the grandeur of this special place.
Many tourists to Paris flock to snap their selfies with Notre Dame and do not
even realize how close they are to this somewhat hidden Gothic Gem.
(It is located with in the walls of the police préfecture.)
Fewer yet know that it was built to house holy relics including the crown of thorns.
The stained glass is something to see – 15 windows – each nearly 50 feet tall! –
depict over a thousand scenes from the Old & New Testaments.
I’m looking forward to revisiting Sainte-Chapelle next month,
especially because on my last visit, half of the beautiful stained glass
windows were covered by scaffolding, undergoing restoration.
